Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen

Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen

Publisher: Turtle Bay Books

Where I got it: from Mrs. Meadows memoir basquet

Once sentence summary: Kaysen is talking about when she was 18-years-old her experience of being in a psychiatric hospital; how she ran away from home and attempted suicide, she went to a doctor and told her she was going to stay in McLean(hospital) for a few weeks and stayed there for two years, many patients did not want to leave the safety of the hospital.

First Sentence: People ask, How did you get in there? What they really want to know is if they are likely to end up in there as well.

First chapter review: they are talking about how she is in a hospital and about her roommates and all of her friends and many of their problems. then about how people slip into a parallel universe, like: world of insane, the criminals, the cripples, the dying, and the dead as well.

Verdict: i think this was some amazing book, it was easy to read and it was long but short at the same time. i enjoyed reading it.

Cover Comments: The cover is divided into two; a blue and a white side, but they both are the same picture of a girl. i think it means like what they said at the first chapter about the parallel sides, like the good and bad also.

We Need a Meeting

We need a meeting.
not for fun.
not for laughing.
nor falling of the log.

For cleverness,
Not for these things,
but to put things straight.

"We dont work"
said Ralph
"Because we are scared"
said Piggy
"Shut up, i am not scared"

ive gone through all the island.
i have seen no beast.
there is no beast.

have you seen a beast littleun?
"in my dreams"
is there a beast littleun?
it comes out of the water.

it eats pigs...

Japan Earthquake WW story

It all happen during after school hours at 2:46 in the afternoon. I was walking with my best friend Natsuki; we were heading up to the movie theater to watch “Hana Yori Dango Final.” I was bantering her about how much she loved Niyisoko in that movie. She said he was a hot papa (which he totally isn’t.) she said I was to fastidious when she talked to me, but I mean, that’s what friends do… they hear you out even if you are not that audible! A few minutes had passed, and we were three blocks away from the movie theater until suddenly we feel everything shaking, everything was fitful, the sky not so azure anymore, it was turning colorless, and the shaking wouldn’t decelerate. “Earthquake!!!!!” I screamed. We found ourselves grappling on to a mailbox stand for 30 minutes. When it all ended I took my cell phone, I didn’t expect it to have any signal but surprisingly it did have, I called my mom to see if everyone was ok, everyone was, I told her I would ran back home that I would be there in 10 min.

“I am so sorry Natsuki, just in case I want you to know that you will always be my best friend” I told her before I ran away.

I arrived home and find all of the family sitting on the living rooms sofa—a capacious sofa. My mom said it would facilitate our thinking to not be worrying if someone’s missing. It was a crucial moment in which we all had to stay together.

Suddenly we hear these loud sirens outside the house, I think it was that the president of Japan had sent a copious of adept deploys to see if there were any people injured.

House on Mango Street

The memoir I read was “The House on Mango Street” by Sandra Cisneros. The significance of the title is that, Esperanza, the main character of the book, is always moving from place to place, and her dad is always telling her that one day they will live in a beautiful house forever. But now she is living in a red, ugly house on Mango Street. She is even embarrassed of pointing to that red house and say “its mine.”

Every chapter of this memoir is organized in vignettes; the chapters may be short but every single one of them has significance to how each memory or event affected her life. It can serve as a metaphor for everything in her life.

There were many vignettes in were the memoirist came to realize many things. For example: one of the vignettes that called “Red Clowns”. In this memory she is in a park, waiting for her friend Sally and out of nowhere this man gets near her and rapes her. She begins to get mad at Sally because she didn’t come to help Esperanza in her time of need. Especially since Esperanza came to the carnival because of Sally even though she didn’t want to

I really liked this book; I thought it was a great memoir, I thought it was well written, and how she did the metaphors for such simple things as… “Hairs” hairs describe the personality of a person.

Lines I loved:
“Someday I will have a best friend all my own. One I can tell my secrets to. One who will understand my jokes with ought me having to explain them. Until then I am a red balloon, a balloon tied to an anchor”

I Believe that...

I believe in screaming as loud as you can

I believe that the color of the nail polish on your toenail describes who you are

I believe that falling down is a great medicine

I believe in laughing, as much as you can is one of the best things in life

I believe that standing up to people changes you

I believe that climbing trees is the fun thing in a day out

I believe that a soon as you finish a book there is a lesson learned

I believe that bird poop is bad luck

I believe that every kid should live their childhood in a good pair of shoes
